Flights from Gabala to Moscow will be operated

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) and Russian Ural Airlines will start operating joint flights on Gabala-Moscow-Gabala route from July 31. According to the code-share agreement, flights of Ural Airlines on this air line will be operated under the codes of both airlines. Direct flights on Gabala-Moscow-Gabala route will be operated every week on Sundays. Departure from Domodedovo International Airport (DME) - at 11:30 in the morning (Moscow time), arrival at Gabala International Airport (GBB) - at 15:15 local time. Departure from Gabala - at 16:25 local time, arrival in Moscow - at 18:20 local time. Flights from Gabala to Moscow will be operated with Airbus A320 airliners, which have economy and business class cabins.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed an order providing funds for the continuation of the construction of a residential building for press workers. According to the order, three million manats will be allocated from the President`s Contingency Fund to the State Fund for Support of Mass Media Development for the continuation of the construction of the house.

Talking around the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh

“Euroactiv” news portal has published an article prepared by Texas-based global intelligence company Stratfor titled “Talking around the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh”. The article says: “Diplomatic talks over the Nagorno-Karabakh dispute are proceeding apace. These unusually positive accounts could bode well for talks over the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which have been at a stalemate for more than two decades. In April, dozens of soldiers on both sides of the dispute were killed and hundreds more injured when fighting between Azerbaijan and Armenia briefly escalated to levels not seen since a cease-fire was reached there in 1994. The flare-up sparked fears that another large-scale military conflict between the two countries could erupt. That said, continuing to hold talks that produce no significant change to the status quo may not be tenable in the long term. After all, a lack of progress in negotiations precipitated the April skirmish in the first place, and Azerbaijan is unlikely to stand by indefinitely for the current round of talks. If diplomacy does not produce tangible results, a similar or more serious military escalation by Azerbaijan cannot be ruled out. But, ultimately, resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will require actions more than words.”

Hosts meeting of Cabinet of Ministers

A meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkey under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Binali Yildirim has today been held at Cankaya Palace. The meeting featured discussions on the recent attempted coup in the country.

The attempted coup in Turkey saw 161 people martyred and 1,440 injured, Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said Saturday, according to Anadolu Agency. Speaking in the Turkish capital Ankara, Yildirim said 2,839 military personnel involved in the "vile attempt" had been arrested. Some were senior officers, he added. He also said 20 pro-coup soldiers had been killed in Friday night's attempt to overthrow the government. According to the Interior Ministry, 1,563 military personnel were arrested across Turkey on Saturday and a number of officers were suspended from duty, including five generals and 29 colonels. Yildirim said the defeat of Friday's coup was a "feast of our democracy" and sent his condolences to the relatives who lost their lives during coup attempt.

The situation which unfolded in Turkey was a coup attempt to overthrow the democratically-elected government. This attempt was foiled by the Turkish people in unity and solidarity. Our President and Government are in charge. Turkish Armed Forces was not involved in the coup attempt in its entirety. It was conducted by a clique within the Armed Forces and received a well-deserved response from our nation.

A youth shot dead three Turkish police officers and wounded three others at a bus station in the city of Shanlıurfa in southeast Turkey before he was also shot dead, according to Anadolu Agency. The agency cited the Shanlıurfa governor as saying the shooting was not terrorism-related. It was not clear when it occurred. The attacker was a 17-year-old with psychological problems who was travelling with his family and who had taken his father's gun, Shanlıurfa Governor Gungor Azim Tuna told reporters. The youth opened fire on three police officers as they asked people at the bus station for their identify papers and then fled before opening fire on another group of police. Three of the officers later died in hospital.

Noble Energy has approved a $265 million project

A consortium led by US firm Noble Energy has approved a $265 million project to drill a new well in a major natural gas field off Israel, according to the Times of Israel. Delek Drilling and Avner Oil Exploration, Israeli firms that are part of the partnership led by Noble, announced the financing for the Tamar field in the Mediterranean. “The Tamar partners decided to approve a budget of about $265 million for drilling ‘Tamar 8’ and connecting to existing infrastructure in the Tamar field,” Delek and Avner said in a joint statement. Tamar 8, the field’s sixth production well, is located about 100 kilometers (60 miles) offshore and would reach a depth of around 3.5 kilometers below the sea bed, it said. Drilling is projected to start in the last quarter of this year. Completion of the well and its connection to the existing pipe network is expected to take four months, the statement added. The Tamar field was discovered in 2009 and began pumping in 2013. It is located some 130 kilometers off the Mediterranean port city of Haifa and has estimated reserves of up to 238 billion cubic meters (8.4 trillion cubic feet). Its gas is so far being used for domestic supply within Israel.

NATO remain committed in its support for the territorial integrity, independence, and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, according to the communiqué. “In this context, we continue to support efforts towards a peaceful settlement of the conflicts in the South Caucasus, based upon these principles and the norms of international law, the UN Charter, and the Helsinki Final Act,” the document said. “We urge all parties to engage constructively and with reinforced political will in peaceful conflict resolution, within the established negotiation frameworks.”

Oil prices have again fallen in the world markets

On the New York Stock Exchange NYMEX (New York Mercantile Exchange) cost of the US Light crude oil decreased $0.27 to stand at $45.14. Price of the Brent crude oil at the London ICE (InterContinental Exchange Futures) dropped $0.22 to trade at $46.54.
